Product Update: Deep Scan Now Traces Funds 15 Hops Upstream
Deep scan used to stop tracing a wallet’s inbound funds after 5 hops. It now follows the money up to 15 hops upstream, spending that extra reach on the paths that actually matter.
Product Update: Deep Scan Now Traces Funds 15 Hops Upstream
Deep scan traces where a wallet's current balance actually came from, hop by hop through its funding history. It used to stop at 5 hops. It now goes up to 15.
We didn't just raise the number — we changed what decides when tracing stops. Before, every path got the same fixed depth regardless of how much money was actually moving through it. Now a path keeps getting traced only as long as it still represents a meaningful share of the wallet's balance; a path that's thinned out to a fraction of a percent stops early, so the extra depth goes to the funding trail that's actually worth following instead of being spent evenly on every branch.
What this means for you
- Deep scan can now surface a sanctioned or high-risk funding source up to 15 hops back, not just 5.
- The coverage note on every deep scan now reports the depth it actually reached for that wallet, instead of a fixed number that didn't reflect what happened.
- Scan time and provider cost are guarded the same way as before — deep scan still won't run away on a highly branched wallet.
No action needed — this is already live on every deep scan.
