Product Update: We Published How the Risk Score Is Calculated

Every scan ends with a number between 0 and 100, and until now we never explained where that number comes from. That felt wrong for something people use to decide whether to accept money.

There is now a methodology page that lays it out. It covers the four things we score — sanctions, counterparties, behaviour, and how freezeable the balance is — and how much each one counts toward the total. It publishes the exact score bands, so you can finally answer "what does 75 actually mean?" without guessing.

What this means for you

• Each band comes with plain guidance: what it means and what to do about it.
• The confidence score is explained as its own number. High risk with low confidence is a different situation from high risk with high confidence.
• We say out loud what the score cannot tell you, including that a high score is not proof of a crime and none of it is legal advice.
• There is a changelog of every change to the model, so if a rescan returns a different number than last month, you can see why.
