AML USDT Check

An AML USDT check is a wallet screening specifically focused on Tether (USDT), reviewing an address for sanctions exposure, current or past blacklist status, and counterparty risk before you send, receive, or accept USDT from it.

What it means

Because USDT is the most widely used stablecoin and carries an active, regularly updated issuer blacklist, an AML check on a USDT address specifically needs to verify current blacklist status directly against Tether's contract, in addition to the broader sanctions and behavioral analysis that applies to any asset. A generic crypto risk check that does not query this issuer-specific state can miss the single most decision-relevant fact about a USDT wallet.

A complete AML USDT check combines four layers: direct blacklist status, sanctions list matching, entity label exposure such as high-risk exchanges or mixers, and multi-hop provenance tracing back through the wallet's funding history.

Real-world example

Before accepting a large USDT payment for an OTC trade, running an AML USDT check on the sender's address confirms it is not currently blacklisted, has no direct sanctions exposure, and shows no concerning counterparty history in its recent transaction chain.
