Sanctioned Wallet Checker
A sanctioned wallet checker screens an address against current government sanctions lists — most importantly OFAC's SDN list — to confirm whether transacting with it would be legally prohibited, and typically also checks for indirect exposure through recent counterparties.

A sanctioned wallet checker screens an address against current government sanctions lists — most importantly OFAC's SDN list — to confirm whether transacting with it would be legally prohibited, and typically also checks for indirect exposure through recent counterparties.
What it means
A direct-match check alone answers a narrow but critical question: is this exact address currently on a published sanctions list. A more complete sanctioned wallet check goes a step further, tracing whether the address has recent, concentrated transaction history with an already-sanctioned wallet — exposure that carries real legal and reputational risk even without a direct designation.
Because sanctions lists update continuously, a wallet clean today can be added tomorrow, which means a sanctioned wallet check performed once at onboarding is not a durable guarantee — periodic re-checking matters for any counterparty relationship that continues over time.
Real-world example
Before processing a large payment, a sanctioned wallet checker confirms the sending address does not appear on the current OFAC SDN list and has no significant recent transaction history with any address that does.
