What it means
Bridges are legitimate, heavily used infrastructure — moving assets between Ethereum, Solana, and dozens of other networks is normal activity for a large share of crypto users. The risk relevance comes from two separate angles: bridges have historically been prime exploit targets, since they concentrate large amounts of locked value in a single contract, and bridging itself can make cross-chain provenance harder for any single screening tool to follow end to end.
A wallet's interaction with a bridge is not inherently suspicious. What matters for risk scoring is what happened immediately before and after the bridge hop — whether the pre-bridge funds already carried risk exposure, and whether tracing continues cleanly on the destination chain or goes dark because the receiving tool does not cover that network.
Real-world example
The Ronin Bridge supporting the Axie Infinity game was exploited for roughly $625 million in March 2022, and the Multichain bridge lost hundreds of millions more in 2023 — both cases where bridge contracts, not the underlying chains, were the point of failure.
