What it means
Unlike a routine exchange hold, a judicial seizure is a legal process. The controlling party is the authority that issued the order, not the token issuer’s day-to-day compliance team and not a venue’s customer-support queue.
On-chain visibility is partial. If an issuer blacklists an address in response to a lawful request, FreezeRadar can read that contract state. If a custodian simply freezes a hosted balance, or if funds are moved under seal, the chain may show a transfer without explaining the court file. Do not treat a missing on-chain freeze as proof that no legal process exists.
Real-world example
A court orders a hosted account frozen while an investigation proceeds. The token contract may still show a transferable balance at the venue’s omnibus address, even though the customer cannot withdraw. If the issuer later blacklists a self-custodied address named in the same matter, that second step becomes visible on-chain.
